Should China [invade/save us from] Russia?
Marvel as hawks become vultures and peck apart the world.
“China probably can’t really do anything about Taiwan right meow,” said the unofficial Wizard of Canada, a middle-aged software developer, while standing in front of a computer in his wizarding tower. “the risk is too great and the US military is too powerful. Maybe if resources had been allocated differently as a result of Ukraine an opportunity would present itself but there’s no real chance of success right now.”
I’m not really qualified to say or think stuff like this but fortunately I can write it as fiction and then just go from there.
Look at Siberia
The Government of China does. Other world governments do when they think about the Government of China. To the north of China is a huge pile of land and vast quantities of unclaimed resources. It’s barely controlled by the least popular person on the entire planet.
What a twist it would be for Xi to step in and out-autocrat Putin. What a marvelous piece of drama for the hateful spectacle that is the space of modern geopolitics. What a sensational way to set the tone for the next 20 years.
What do I know?
As evidenced by this article from yesterday I think about Siberia a lot. If we’re going to hyper-mobilize our capitalism into space so Jeff Bezos can mine asteroids, why wouldn’t China take advantage of a weakened Russia to accumulate vast mineral wealth? Obviously the nuclear weapons are a problem but I’m pretty sure that a compelling case could be made to convince Putin to be supported by China after a spectacular enough defeat in Ukraine. This would also likely apply to many of the Russian Oligarchs who are obviously, among other things, people who respect power that enables their power.
I don’t understand what’s actually happening on the ground in Ukraine. Social media as a means of discerning truth about remote regions in the world has collapsed as part of this conflict the way trust in polling collapsed during recent US elections. I have a theory of this that is available exclusively on my Patreon. I have another theory about how social media is worsening the harm our civilization experiences as a result of this type of conflict due to undiscovered physics relating to consciousness.
I do know that the ultrapowerful materialist entities of the world (Egregores one and all) through which most human energy is filtered and funneled only have a handful of things they can do effectively at scale, and they need to sustain themselves and their massive appetites for humans or resources. War gotta war cause armies gotta eat.
Siberia funds Russia
That’s an oversimplification but there’s some truth to it. Land has resources. Russia has lots and lots of land very close to China. China needs resources. Russia is going to Ukraine because Russia needs resources.
It’s a good thing this is the internet and nothing matters because I’m probably not supposed to be saying this. It’s probably Very Wrong because I Don’t Know What I’m Talking About.
But like… I think about Siberia a lot. And I’m just the unofficial Wizard of Canada trying to come up with plans to fight The Global Wildfire Crisis.
A country with over a billion people and an affinity for massive civil projects involving incomprehensible allocations of human resources living south of the biggest empty area in the world seems like it’s a relevant calculus to the current troubles of eastern Europe — far away though they may be.
Do you think China would fight the Global Wildfire Crisis?
Thanks for reading. It maybe goes without saying but I’ll say it anyway: I don’t want any of this to happen. I think that’d make a bunch of things worse for most people and we shouldn’t let the limited few who would benefit from it be able to do it — though we don’t seem to have any options which is why I’m always yammering on about new systems.
